RH-5321 is a ready-to-use cationic amino silicone emulsion for hair care and skin care. It is supplied at 35% active content as a 0.2 μm emulsion, so it can be diluted straight into water-based formulas without an emulsification or heating step.

The amino groups carry a positive charge and bind to the negatively charged surface of hair and skin, so the conditioning effect stays on the fibre through rinsing instead of washing straight off. In practice this shows up as easier wet combing, less friction in dry combing and a softer hand feel.

In skin care the same cationic charge gives a smooth, non-tacky after-feel in body lotions and hand creams. Because the system is cationic, check compatibility with the anionic surfactants and thickeners already in the formula before scaling up.
